Chandler Macleod is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join the maintenance team at Rio Tinto's Yarwun Refinery.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within one of Australia's leading heavy industrial operations, supporting the reliability and performance of critical fixed plant equipment. Working alongside experienced maintenance professionals, you'll be involved in planned maintenance, breakdown response, shutdowns and equipment overhauls across a large-scale refinery.

About the Role As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll play a key role in maintaining the reliability of fixed plant equipment across the refinery, ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to Rio Tinto standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Opportunity to work with Rio Tinto
- Performing breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on fixed plant equipment
- Inspecting, servicing and repairing pumps, gearboxes, valves, conveyors and rotating equipment
- Completing shutdown maintenance, isolations and equipment rebuilds
- Reading mechanical drawings and following Rio Tinto work instructions and maintenance procedures
- Completing risk assessments, JHAs and SLAMs prior to commencing work
- Working closely with operations, maintenance teams and permit issuers to safely deliver maintenance activities
- Troubleshooting mechanical faults and completing equipment alignments and lubrication
- Recording completed work within SAP or equivalent maintenance systems
To be successful, you will have:
- Certificate III in Mechanical Fitting or Fitter & Turner
- Strong fixed plant maintenance experience within mining, refineries, smelters, manufacturing or heavy industry
- Experience maintaining rotating equipment, pumps, conveyors, gearboxes and mechanical systems
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
- A strong commitment to safety and working within permit-controlled environments
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team
- Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets (preferred)
- Gas Test Atmospheres and High Risk Licences (advantageous)
