Mechanical Engineer – Fixed Plant Projects

Location: Kurri Kurri, NSW (Hybrid after onboarding)
Hours: Full Time Contract | 40 Hours per Week
Duration: Ongoing Assignment (Initial 6-Month Contract with Extension Potential)
Rate: Competitive Hourly Rate + Super

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a leading industrial organisation supporting fixed plant projects.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary engineering team and reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will deliver mechanical engineering support across a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from bulk depot upgrades through to complex manufacturing plant projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to work on a variety of capital projects while gaining exposure to engineering governance, design standards, commissioning and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver mechanical engineering support for fixed plant capital projects
  • Assist with the development and execution of mechanical design scopes
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and hazard studies
  • Support commissioning and handover activities
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering, statutory and industry standards
  • Engage and coordinate external engineering and drafting resources
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation and governance initiatives
  • Provide technical advice to project teams and operational stakeholders
  • Support project delivery across manufacturing facilities and bulk depots throughout the Australia Pacific region
About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Degree qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working within project engineering environments
  • Experience delivering fixed plant engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and project execution
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
Highly regarded:

  • Manufacturing, chemical processing, mining or heavy industrial experience
  • Brownfield capital project experience
  • RPEQ accreditation or willingness to work towards accreditation
  • Commissioning and plant modification experience

Location Flexibility

Our preference is for candidates based in the Hunter Region and able to work from the Kurri Kurri office. Exceptional candidates located in Brisbane or Perth may also be considered.
