Manager Financial Services
Location: Collingwood
Rate: $100 per hour + super
Contract: Short-term until 21st August 2026

We are seeking an experienced Manager Financial Services for a short-term contract based in Collingwood.
This leadership role is responsible for managing Council’s finance function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial services including budgeting, reporting, long-term financial planning, systems management and compliance.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in driving financial strategy, leading a high-performing team, and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the finance team, including performance, development and succession planning
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of the annual budget, long-term financial plan and financial strategies
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including statutory reporting obligations
  • Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and manage the external audit process
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior stakeholders across the organisation
  • Oversee financial systems, ensuring accuracy, integration and continuous improvement
  • Manage cashflow forecasting, budget reviews and organisational financial performance
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards and reporting requirements
  • Represent the organisation in key financial forums and with external stakeholders
About You
  • Proven experience leading a financial services function within a complex organisation
  • Strong background in financial and management accounting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with experience managing and developing teams
  • Ability to provide strategic financial advice to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Experience within local government or a similarly regulated environment is highly regarded
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
  • CPA or CA qualification
  • Extensive experience in financial management and leadership roles
  • Experience working with finance systems (TechnologyOne or similar highly regarded)
