We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Planner to lead the development, integration, and assurance of project schedules across a portfolio of major mining infrastructure works. Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Planner responsible for managing, integrating, and assuring contractor schedules across mining infrastructure projects. The role is accountable for establishing and maintaining the Owner's Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), ensuring contractor plans are realistic, aligned, and coordinated with broader project requirements.
Reporting to the Manager Project Controls, you will:
- Develop, maintain, and control the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) across all project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Integrate contractor schedules into the IMS, ensuring alignment of scope, logic, sequencing, resource loading, and key milestones.
- Review contractor schedules and progress updates to assess schedule integrity, performance, risks, opportunities, and forecast outcomes.
- Ensure all interfaces between contractors, work packages, operational constraints, and project stakeholders are accurately reflected within the schedule.
- Monitor critical path activities and schedule performance, identifying potential delays and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Produce schedule analysis, progress reports, look-aheads, and management dashboards to support project delivery and executive decision-making.
- Facilitate schedule review workshops and collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure schedule alignment.
- Support project controls processes including earned value management, change management, risk analysis, and forecasting.
- Maintain compliance with project controls standards, governance requirements, and reporting frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience planning and scheduling large-scale mining, resources, infrastructure, construction, or heavy industrial projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and project scheduling methodologies.
- Strong understanding of project delivery lifecycles, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Experience developing and managing Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) in a multi-contractor environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess schedule performance, critical path impacts, and project risks.
- Understanding of project controls principles including progress measurement, forecasting, earned value management, and schedule risk analysis.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence contractors and project teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
- Experience on mining infrastructure projects, including power, water, processing facilities, camps, or supporting infrastructure.
- Familiarity with schedule assurance, forensic schedule analysis, and schedule risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience using Power BI, Acumen Fuse, or other project controls and reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Rio Tinto or other major resources sector project delivery frameworks.
- Experience working within Owner's Teams on major capital projects.
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in project planning, scheduling, or project controls roles, preferably within the mining, resources, infrastructure, or heavy industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience managing contractor schedules and integrated project schedules on major capital projects.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate reporting, schedule analysis, and forecasting to support project outcomes.
- Ability and willingness to travel to site as required.
- Current driver's licence.
- Strong commitment to safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
