Based in Mount Beauty, VIC, this role will play a key part in supporting safe operations across a complex industrial environment. You will partner closely with operational teams, contractors and leaders to provide expert Health & Safety guidance, strengthen safety systems and help drive a proactive safety culture.
This opportunity would suit a safety professional with experience in large-scale construction, major infrastructure projects, energy, utilities or similarly complex industrial environments, who is confident working across operational teams, contractor groups and high-risk activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist Health & Safety advice, coaching and support to leaders, employees and contractors.
- Support risk management activities including risk assessments, safety observations and assurance activities.
- Promote and embed a strong safety culture through visible leadership, engagement initiatives and behavioural safety programs.
- Support incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits and reviews to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor safety performance data, identify trends and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development, implementation and review of Health & Safety policies, procedures and systems.
- Partner with contractors and subcontractors to ensure effective safety management practices.
- Deliver safety communications, toolbox talks and workforce engagement activities.
- Contribute to business-wide Health & Safety initiatives and improvement plans.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within a high-risk industrial environment.
- Background supporting large-scale construction projects, shutdowns, outages, infrastructure projects, energy, utilities or heavy industry environments.
- Experience working within complex contractor and subcontractor environments.
- Strong understanding of contractor management, risk management and safe systems of work.
- Relevant WHS qualifications, including Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Demonstrated experience influencing leaders and frontline teams to improve safety outcomes.
- Experience with audits, incident investigations, safety reporting, KPIs and assurance activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive approach to safety, with a focus on continuous improvement and positive workplace behaviours.
