About the Opportunity
We’re partnering with a local council to appoint an experienced Geospatial Analyst for a short-term 4-week backfill assignment.
This role will support the ongoing delivery and maintenance of the organisation’s GIS function, with a strong focus on working through and maintaining high-volume spatial data.
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring someone who can step in quickly, work independently, and deliver accurate outcomes within defined timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the organisation’s GIS, including enhancements to existing applications
- Manage and analyse spatial data, ensuring accuracy, integrity and accessibility
- Support integration between GIS and corporate systems
- Undertake spatial analysis and produce high-quality mapping outputs
- Provide advice and support to internal stakeholders on GIS and spatial data use
- Develop and maintain GIS documentation and data processes
- Work through large and complex datasets efficiently and accurately
You will be a hands-on GIS professional who is confident working with data at volume and comfortable operating independently in a short-term environment.
To be successful, you will have:
- Proven experience using Esri ArcGIS(essential)
- Experience working with SQL and/or spatial databases
- Strong capability in spatial data management, analysis and mapping
- High attention to detail, particularly when working with complex datasets
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Experience within local government
- Familiarity with Vicmap or similar datasets
- Relevant tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Science or similar
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to obtain a Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check
