Roster: 5/5/4 – rotating days and nights
Rate:$53–$55 per hour (dependent on experience)
Project Duration: 6 months with potential to extend
About the Role
An opportunity is available for a Fixed Plant Operator to join Rio Tinto operations in Dampier. This role is suited to candidates who prioritise safety, enjoy working in a team environment, and are keen to learn and develop their skills over time.
This is a residential position, and applicants must live in or be able to reside in close proximity to Cape Lambert.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be working around the following equipment and infrastructure:
- Conveyors
- Stackers
- Reclaimers
- Car Dumpers
- Ship Loaders
- Skid Steers
- Moorings
Further duties may include:
- Operate and monitor fixed plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Conduct routine checks, inspections, and basic troubleshooting
- Monitor plant performance and report faults or anomalies
- Maintain housekeeping and ensure work areas meet safety standards
- Follow site procedures, permits, and safety systems at all times
- Support continuous improvement and operational reliability
About You
- Previous experience in a fixed plant, processing, or industrial environment
- Experience across
- Exposure to FIFO or DIDO work and confidence working in harsh climates, including Pilbara conditions
- Strong commitment to safety as a top priority
- Willingness to learn, develop, and grow within the team
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work both independently and as part of a crew
Requirements
- Current C Class manual driver’s licence
- Full Australian working rights with no restrictions
- Ability to work rotating day and night shifts
- Must be residential to Wickham, Point Samson or Roebourne
Desirable
- MSIC card, or ability to obtain one
