About the Role
As an Independent Advisor, you will provide clear, culturally informed, and evidence-based advice to support how services and programs work for First Nations people with disabilities.
You will work with a range of stakeholders and provide an independent voice to ensure decisions are fair, inclusive, and culturally appropriate.
This role is a full time 6 month labour hire contract and can be performed Australia-wide, with flexible engagement requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent advice on how programs, policies, and services work for First Nations people with disabilities
- Support better understanding of NDIS access, experience, and outcomes
- Review documents and provide feedback in a clear and practical way
- Write reports, papers, and advice in plain English
- Identify opportunities to improve systems and outcomes
- Work with different groups, building strong and respectful relationships
- Help others understand complex environments and where change can make a difference
This role is identified and open to applicants from the First Nations community only.
You will bring:
- Strong understanding of First Nations communities and cultures
- Deep knowledge of the needs and experiences of people with disabilities
- Experience or understanding of how the NDIS works for First Nations people with disabilities
- The ability to think carefully and provide balanced, practical advice
- Strong communication skills, including writing in a way that is clear and easy to understand
- Ability to work in a changing environment and support others to navigate it
- A natural ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Qualifications in disability, health, policy, or a related field
- Experience writing reports, briefings, or advisory papers
- Experience working across government, community, or advisory environments
