About the opportunity
Chandler Macleod is recruiting on behalf of our client, a global leader in minerals processing and mining equipment technology, for Facility Technicians to join their Technology Centre in Clayton. This is a hands-on, temporary opportunity supporting consultancy, research and development test work across a leading minerals product range.
You'll run pilot plant and equipment trials, prepare samples, and turn raw test results into clean, tabulated data for the engineering team — a varied role split across the lab and the test floor, ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy and enjoys practical, technical work.
The details
- Pay rate:$44.00 per hour (casual rate, inclusive of casual loading), plus penalties for weekend, overtime and public holiday work
- Hours: Monday to Friday — shift options of 6:00am–2:00pm or 1:00pm–9:00pm
- Duration: Short-term temporary assignment
- Classification: C7 / Laboratory Technician Level III, Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020
- Location: Weir Technology Centre, Clayton VIC 3168
- Carry out equipment and pilot plant test work, collecting results and producing tabulated data for engineering review
- Prepare and review test results and plans
- Conduct laboratory test work including particle size analysis and rheological characterisation
- Install, commission and operate test equipment, including basic process electronics on new rigs
- Adapt equipment and test rig configurations to suit different applications
- Manage incoming and outgoing materials in line with handling procedures — MSDS records, delivery manifests, volume tracking and chain-of-custody documentation
- Quarantine and document any defective materials or equipment
- Champion a safety-first culture and lead by example on all safety and environmental practices
- Minimum 2 years' relevant industry experience
- Experience with basic metal fabrication (desirable)
- Confident handling small tools, both powered and manual
- Strong written and verbal communication — able to write routine reports and present data clearly
- Sound numeracy: comfortable with measurements, ratios, percentages and interpreting graphs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- A practical, problem-solving mindset and a genuine commitment to Zero Harm
A varied role split between office-based data work and active test environments. Expect loud indoor/outdoor settings with moving mechanical parts (PPE provided and required at all times), occasional lifting up to ~7kg, and periods of desk work.
