Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic external communications support to a senior government office.
- Review, prepare, and coordinate information for release to media outlets.
- Develop media responses, briefing materials, and communication products for external audiences.
- Provide expert advice on engagement with media representatives and external stakeholders.
- Support stakeholder engagement activities and initiatives that foster positive community relationships.
- Ensure all communications are accurate, culturally appropriate, sensitive, and aligned with broader government objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in external communications, media relations, public affairs, or a related field.
- Proven ability to prepare, review, and coordinate media and public-facing communications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities.
- Sound judgement and the ability to manage sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Engagement with multicultural communities, particularly within Islamic communities.
- Experience in community engagement, social cohesion, diversity, inclusion, or related policy areas.
- Previous experience working within government or the Australian Public Service.
- Full-time, 6-month temporary contract with the potential for extension.
