About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Designer/Drafter to join a high-performing engineering team supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior engineering leadership to develop and maintain high-quality, standardised electrical and ITS design documentation. Your work will play a key part in ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency across a portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities Electrical & ITS Design and Drafting
- Prepare, review and update detailed electrical and ITS design documentation in accordance with established standards and specifications
- Produce a range of industry-standard drawings including:
- Schematics
- Termination diagrams
- Interconnection and connectivity diagrams
- Site layouts (general arrangements)
- Switchboard and distribution board layouts
- Presentation/symbol drawings
- Cable schedules
- Bills of materials
- Ensure all drawings are accurate, well-structured, and consistent with drafting conventions
- Contribute to the development, refinement and maintenance of electrical and ITS standards and specifications
- Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure designs meet operational requirements and industry compliance expectations
- Support the creation of standardised design packages to drive efficiency and consistency across projects
- Work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to translate technical requirements into clear design documentation
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback to ensure high-quality outcomes
- Ensure all outputs align with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience in electrical and ITS drafting and design within an engineering or infrastructure environment
- Demonstrated ability to produce and review detailed drawings such as schematics, layouts, interconnection diagrams, and cable schedules
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software)
- Sound understanding of electrical systems and ITS infrastructure
- Knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, and safety requirements
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce consistent and high-quality technical documentation
- Experience working within a standards-driven or government-focused environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards
