3-Month Assignment | Multi-Campus
$55 - $65 per hour + super
We are recruiting a Counsellor for a 3-month assignment within a Student Wellbeing team across multiple campus locations.
About the Role This position offers the opportunity to support students’ wellbeing and academic success through evidence-based counselling and welfare services.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of counsellors, welfare officers, and youth workers, you will contribute to a supportive campus environment while delivering individual support and broader wellbeing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide short-term counselling and crisis intervention to students
- Conduct risk assessments and coordinate appropriate support pathways
- Respond to critical incidents and provide timely psychological support
- Collaborate with academic and support staff to develop student support plans
- Deliver workshops and wellbeing programs to enhance resilience and mental health
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records
- Contribute to service improvements through data insights and feedback
- Support inclusive, culturally responsive practices
- Experience delivering counselling services, ideally within a student or community setting
- Strong case management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively
- Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and student-centred care
- Experience developing or facilitating wellbeing programs (desirable)
- Demonstrated ability to engage diverse student cohorts, including individuals who may be reluctant to access support, using responsive, culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology, counselling or a related discipline (postgraduate preferred)
- Current registration and eligibility for membership with a recognised professional body (e.g. PACFA, ACA)
- Valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- Locations may include Chadstone, Drummond Street, Melbourne CBD, Moorabbin, North Melbourne, Glen Waverley and Eildon
- Flexible working arrangements may be available depending on service needs
