Seeking an experienced Coordinator Financial Accounting to provide critical short-term cover within a Local Government environment.
This role is essential in supporting a high-risk, time-sensitive year-end period, ensuring accurate financial reporting and audit readiness while a permanent appointment is being sourced.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the completion of Council’s statutory and financial reporting in line with legislative requirements, Australian Accounting Standards, and internal policies
- Support the delivery of year-end processes, including financial statements, prior period error reinstatements, asset revaluations, and audit coordination
- Manage audit processes and act as the key liaison with external auditors
- Support preparation of budgets, forecasts, long-term financial plans, and monthly reporting
- Oversee Council’s taxation obligations, cash flow, investments, and borrowings
- Provide leadership to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Accounting teams
- Deliver high-quality financial reporting and drive efficient financial operations across Council
- Partner with internal stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, and provide financial advice
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, policies, and systems
- Collaborate across the Financial Services Branch to support overall operational success
- Demonstrated experience in year-end financial reporting and close processes
- Strong expertise in prior period adjustments, financial statement preparation, and asset accounting/revaluations
- Proven experience managing audits and working with external auditors
- Experience with TechnologyOne (TechOne) financial systems
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing or coordinating finance teams
- Sound knowledge of taxation, cash flow management, and financial governance
- Background in Local Government will be highly regarded
