Chandler Macleod is currently seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join the Automation team at Rio Tinto's Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL).
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the planning and delivery of critical control system upgrades across a large-scale industrial operation. Working alongside an experienced engineering team, you'll help develop upgrade strategies for obsolete Rockwell control systems while supporting the ongoing reliability of plant automation systems.

About the Role
This role is initially focused on developing engineering solutions for the replacement of obsolete Rockwell control system hardware across site.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Opportunity with Rio Tinto
- Reviewing existing Rockwell control system hardware and identifying upgrade pathways.
- Developing engineering scopes of work for automation replacement projects.
- Preparing technical work packages to support future design and execution.
- Providing technical support for Honeywell SCADA and Rockwell PLC systems.
- Supporting day-to-day automation activities across site.
- Assisting with PLC and SCADA modifications where required.
- Working closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to deliver safe and reliable automation solutions.
About You
We're looking for a motivated Control Systems Engineer who enjoys working across both project engineering and operational support.
To be successful, you will have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Control Systems Engineering.
- Experience working with Rockwell PLCs and associated hardware.
- Experience supporting Honeywell SCADA systems.
- Strong automation and industrial control systems experience.
- Experience developing engineering documentation, scopes of work and technical work packages.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience within heavy industrial environments such as mining, smelters, refineries, manufacturing, power generation or processing plants.
