We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial / Contracts Manager to provide commercial leadership across Major Projects. Working closely with the Major Projects Project Director, you will be the first point of contact for all commercial and contract matters across allocated projects.
You will lead complex procurement transactions, manage contract and commercial negotiations, mitigate commercial risk, and ensure value for money outcomes across major construction and infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial and contract management stream for allocated Major Projects
- Act as the primary commercial advisor to Project Directors and Project Managers
- Lead commercial aspects of INSW Gate 3 and Gate 4 reviews
- Manage contract administration including payments, Early Warnings, and Compensation Events
- Lead negotiation and resolution of commercial issues and disputes, applying dispute avoidance strategies
- Manage contract management requirements for INSW Gate 5 and Gate 6
- Complete monthly commercial and financial reporting for Major Projects
- Manage contract close-out and final account settlement
- Apply lessons learned to improve commercial outcomes across the portfolio
- Provide leadership and guidance to commercial team members within a matrix environment
About You
You are a commercially astute senior professional with extensive experience in major construction and infrastructure projects. You are confident engaging at senior levels, able to partner closely with project teams, and capable of maintaining appropriate commercial independence.
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years’ contract and commercial management experience on major construction or infrastructure projects
- Experience working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, as well as on the client side
- Strong understanding of construction procurement, transaction, and delivery models
- Solid working knowledge of the INSW Gate review system
- Proven ability to lead commercial strategy and partner effectively with the business
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including external suppliers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of construction and contract law
- Demonstrated people leadership and team management capability
- Experience operating within complex matrix organisations
