Community Compliance Officer - 6 Month contract (Potential Extension)

Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Community Compliance Officer (Band 5) to join a dynamic and community-focused local government team in Eurora

About the Role In this role, you will be appointed as an Authorised Officer and play a key part in delivering compliance across a range of services including animal management, local laws, parking enforcement, fire prevention, and community safety. You will engage directly with the public, investigate complaints, and help ensure a safe and compliant community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce relevant Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws, including issuing infringements and notices
  • Investigate complaints and prepare evidence for legal proceedings and court attendance
  • Deliver animal management services, including handling and caring for impounded animals and livestock
  • Assist with the operation of the Council pound facility
  • Support fire prevention inspections and compliance programs
  • Promote voluntary compliance through positive engagement with the community
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
  • Provide high-quality customer service to stakeholders and the public
  • Assist with animal registrations, impound auctions, and responsible ownership initiatives
  • Participate in occasional after-hours duties, as required
About You
You are a proactive and professional compliance officer who thrives in a field-based role and enjoys working with the community.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience in a regulatory or investigative environment
  • Experience handling domestic animals and livestock
  • Strong knowledge of investigative and problem-solving techniques
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage conflict and handle complaints diplomatically
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgement
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
Desirable
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations
  • Certificate IV in Animal Regulation and Management
  • Experience working within local government
Skills & Knowledge
  • Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance processes
  • Ability to interpret legislation and apply it in real-world scenarios
  • Competency in report writing, evidence preparation, and documentation
  • Strong time management and ability to work autonomously
  • Sound computer skills across Microsoft Office and database systems
