Communications & Engagement Advisor
Location: Sunshine
Rate: $57 per hour + super
Contract: Short-term ASAP - July 6th, 2026

We are partnering with Brimbank City Council to recruit an experienced Communications & Engagement Advisor for a short-term contract based in Sunshine.
This role plays a key part in delivering clear, accessible communication and meaningful community engagement initiatives that support Council projects, policies and services.
You will work closely with internal teams and the community to ensure feedback is captured and considered in decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver clear, accessible communication and engagement materials
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement communications and engagement plans
  • Support and facilitate community engagement activities such as events, meetings and information sessions
  • Build strong relationships across Council and with community stakeholders
  • Identify and manage risks, supporting the development of mitigation strategies
  • Provide specialist advice on community engagement, consultation and digital engagement approaches
  • Promote best practice engagement principles across the organisation
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, community engagement or corporate affairs
  • Strong ability to translate complex information into clear, user-friendly content
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
  • Experience developing and delivering engagement and communications plans
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Understanding of local government processes is highly regarded
Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in communications, journalism, public relations or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience working with diverse community groups and stakeholders
