We are currently seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join a local government organisation based in Officer for an 8-week temporary assignment.
This role will support the delivery of building control services, ensuring compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations, and associated legislation while promoting community safety and amenity.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the administration and enforcement of the Building Act and Building Regulations.
- Conduct building compliance, safety, and regulatory activities.
- Provide advice to members of the public, industry professionals, and stakeholders regarding building legislation and requirements.
- Assist with investigations relating to illegal building works, occupancy issues, and building compliance matters.
- Support essential safety measures audits and inspections.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, and statutory documentation.
- Assist with building appeals and submissions where required.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Registration as a Building Practitioner in the category of Building Surveyor Limited or higher.
- Demonstrated experience in a Building Surveyor role or a similar discipline.
- Thorough knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, and associated legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Well-developed dispute resolution and mediation skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to provide professional advice to a range of audiences.
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence.
