Role Overview:
As an APS5 Indigenous Support Officer, you will play a vital role in providing tailored assistance and support to Indigenous clients and stakeholders. You will be instrumental in facilitating programs, liaising with community members, and ensuring that services are delivered effectively and respectfully. Your work will directly impact community well-being and help build stronger, more inclusive pathways for Indigenous Australians.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, issues, and community dynamics
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience in community engagement, support services, or a related environment
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities in complex situations
- Knowledge of government policies and programs affecting Indigenous communities
- Experience in project coordination and program delivery
- Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and work under pressure
- Additional languages spoken within Indigenous communities
- Tertiary qualification in social sciences, community development, or a related field (desired but not mandatory)
- Previous experience working within Indigenous affairs or community support roles at a similar level
- Familiarity with culturally appropriate engagement practices
