AO7 Principal Advisor – Office of the General Manager
Temporary Assignment | 4–6 Weeks | Immediate Start
Berrinba | $88.30–$94.59 per Hour + Super

Our government client is seeking an experienced AO7 Principal Advisor to join the Office of the General Manager within a high-profile program environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a strategic and politically astute professional with strong advisory, briefing, policy and stakeholder engagement experience.

About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will provide high-level advisory and coordination support across a broad range of operational, strategic and governance matters.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinating and synthesising information from subject matter experts across legal, communications, scientific, compliance and governance functions to prepare high-quality briefs, submissions and correspondence.
  • Providing policy, procedural and operational advice to support responses to requests from senior executives, government agencies and oversight bodies.
  • Preparing Parliamentary, Ministerial and Director-General briefs, correspondence and reports.
  • Conducting research, analysis and review of complex and sensitive issues and providing recommendations for action.
  • Developing, managing and implementing projects and initiatives that support the effective operation of the General Manager’s office.
  • Coordinating activities and priorities to support the delivery of quality services and program outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Providing high-level liaison, consultation and negotiation support on policy and program initiatives.
  • Contributing to a collaborative, respectful and high-performing team culture.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Significant experience in a senior advisory, policy, governance or program role, preferably within government.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with experience preparing executive, Ministerial and Parliamentary briefing materials.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to manage complex and sensitive issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience coordinating projects and delivering outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Strong judgement, initiative and the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to professional excellence.
