Payroll Manager | AO7 | Medical Research Organisation | Herston | $137,000–$150,000 + 15.7% superannuation + salary packaging

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join a leading medical research organisation based in Herston.

This AO7-level leadership opportunity is responsible for overseeing the full payroll function, leading a small team, and ensuring accurate, compliant and efficient payroll services across the organisation.
Working closely with HR and Finance teams, you will provide expert payroll guidance, drive continuous improvement initiatives and support a high-performing payroll function.

About the role:
  • Lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations
  • Manage and develop a small payroll team
  • Provide expert advice on payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and compliance
  • Partner with HR and Finance stakeholders across the organisation
  • Manage payroll systems, reporting and process improvements
  • Ensure strong governance, accuracy and operational efficiency
About you:
  • Proven experience managing a payroll function within a complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience leading and mentoring payroll teams
  • Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with Aurion or similar payroll systems is highly regarded
