Accounts Payable Officer
Location: Officer, VIC
Rate: $40 per hour + super
Assignment: Short-term contract (leave coverage) through to 21st August 2026

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a local government organisation based in Officer. This is a short-term assignment supporting the finance team during a period of leave coverage.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing while delivering high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-end accounts payable processing
  • Invoice processing, including supplier payments and credits
  • Preparation and communication of payment run schedules and cut-off timeframes
  • Processing cheque and EFT payment runs and issuing remittances
  • Accurate and efficient data entry
  • Reviewing and coding invoices in line with the general ledger
  • Monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Preparation of monthly creditor reconciliations
  • Responding to accounts payable enquiries
  • Supporting process improvements within AP procedures
  • Maintaining up-to-date policies, procedures, and system records
  • Additional duties as required
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in an accounts payable or finance administration role
  • Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Sound understanding of accounts payable processes and general ledger coding
  • Ability to reconcile supplier accounts
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Understanding of ATO requirements (desirable)
  • Experience within a local government or large organisation (advantageous)
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary qualifications in Business, Office Administration or a related field (preferred)
