Challenge

Fujitsu needed a partner to bring order, visibility, and scalability to its complex workforce ecosystem. A partner who could deliver a complete end-to-end solution and take a 1st generation RPO to a true Total Talent model


The business was managing over 400 contingent workers and 1,300 permanent staff across IT, professional, and field roles spread across dozens of suppliers and multiple internal systems. 


Key challenges included: 

  • Inconsistent recruitment processes and variable candidate quality. 
  • Escalating costs from referred and direct-sourced candidates with limited benchmarking and negotiation of rates 
  • Fragmented supplier base with limited oversight. 
  • Manual processes for invoicing, compliance, and reporting. 
  • A need to scale rapidly to support critical government and defence projects. 

Solution

Fujitsu engaged Chandler Macleod xPO to design and implement a Total Talent Solution, combining MSP and RPO capability to manage all contingent, permanent, and SOW recruitment across ANZ. 


The program was co-designed and delivered in partnership, anchored around four pillars: 

  • Deployment of Chandler Macleod’s proprietary xPO technology stack, incorporating a total talent platform for sourcing, onboarding, time sheeting, payroll, and supplier management.
  • Delivered with zero service disruption or blackout period.

  • Dedicated onsite and virtual team operating as an extension of Fujitsu’s People & Culture function. 
  • End-to-end delivery of contingent and permanent hiring within the MSP framework.
  • Close collaboration with Procurement and Finance to ensure full governance and spend control.

  • Consolidation and reclassification of 70+ suppliers into Tier 1, Tier 2, and specialist diversity cohorts.
  • Implemented a structured supplier scorecard and regular governance cadence.
  • Inclusive supplier partnerships with Indigenous and diversity-owned businesses.

  • Regular performance reviews, cost modelling, and predictive analytics to inform future workforce planning.
  • Establishment of talent communities for high-demand and DE&I profiles.
