Workshop Leading Hand – Experienced Fabricator/Welder
We’re looking for a skilled fabricator/welder who’s ready to take on a hands‑on leadership role within our clients busy workshop. This position suits someone who enjoys being actively involved in the work while guiding a capable team and supporting smooth day‑to‑day operations.
Role Overview
- Carry out steel fabrication, welding, and container modification tasks
- Lead and mentor fabricators, trade assistants, and contractors
- Help organise and prioritise daily workshop activities
- Provide fast, practical technical support on the floor
- Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency
- Assist with workflow coordination and basic scheduling needs
- Strong background in fabrication and welding (structural/steel)
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand or senior tradesperson
- Ability to interpret drawings and guide others through builds
- Practical problem‑solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Confidence balancing hands‑on work with team leadership
- Someone who can make clear, timely decisions when needed
