A leading food manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced and proactive WHS & EMS Coordinator to support and continuously improve Workplace Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance across site operations.

Reporting directly to the Site Operations Manager, with an indirect reporting line to the National WHS function, this role works closely with site leadership, production teams, maintenance, quality assurance, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure operations are safe, compliant, and aligned with legislative and organisational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvement across WHS, Environmental, Quality, and Compliance systems
  • Implement, maintain, and review the Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Execute and promote the organisation’s Food Safety and Quality Culture to ensure production of safe, compliant products
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, customer standards, and internal systems
  • Coordinate and participate in internal and external WHS and EMS audits, ensuring timely close-out of actions
  • Analyse WHS and environmental data, identify trends, and recommend risk management strategies
  • Oversee contractor safety management and site compliance
  • Support regulatory engagement (e.g. WorkSafe, EPA, Emergency Services) as directed by senior management
  • Ensure hazards, incidents, injuries, environmental and CoR matters are reported in accordance with procedures
  • Assist with environmental reporting obligations and action plans
  • Support Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance in line with the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)
  • Identify and report any suspected Modern Slavery risks or concerns
  • Provide guidance and professional advice to supervisors, HSR committees, and site leadership
  • Coordinate WHS committee meetings and provide regular performance updates
  • Promote a proactive, accountable, and compliant safety culture across the site
Skills & Experience Required
  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety(mandatory)
  • Proven experience in WHS, EMS, or compliance roles, preferably within manufacturing or food processing environments
  • Strong working knowledge of WHS Management Systems (AS 4801 and/or ISO 45001)
  • Experience conducting workplace incident and injury investigations
  • Contractor and third-party management experience
  • Sound understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
  • Exposure to poultry processing, feed milling, or further processing environments (desirable)
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related business systems
  • Ability to achieve departmental KPIs and work within organisational guidelines
