A well-established Australasian distribution and supply chain business is consolidating its Melbourne warehouse operations from three existing sites into one purpose-built facility, with a hard deadline of August 2026. This is a high-visibility, time-critical program that requires an experienced implementation lead who can hit the ground running.
This contract role is ideal for a senior operations professional or implementation specialist who has led complex warehouse consolidations or site transitions in live, customer-facing environments.
The Role
You will be the single accountable lead for the end-to-end delivery of this consolidation program. From the moment the new Rowville site is leased, you will be responsible for getting it fully operational, winding down the existing sites, integrating teams and processes, and setting up a BAU operating model ready for handover to an incoming Operations Manager.
This is a hands-on delivery role, not a consulting engagement. The business is looking for someone who can own the outcome.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead a detailed implementation project plan from new site establishment through to BAU handover
- Lead the physical set-up of the new consolidated warehouse site (approx. 5,000 sqm, Rowville)
- Manage the disestablishment of three existing Melbourne sites
- Integrate two distinct warehouse operations (B2B distribution and B2C fulfilment) into one unified team and operating model
- Establish an implementation team drawing on internal Pacificomm and Virago Logistics resources
- Oversee the transition of existing WMS applications into the new consolidated environment
- Ensure seamless customer communications and uninterrupted service delivery throughout the transition
- Lead weekly governance reporting with the Executive Leadership Team
- Develop and recommend a handover plan and timeline for transition to BAU
- Hand over to the incoming permanent Operations Manager once BAU is established
- Proven experience leading warehouse consolidations, site establishment or logistics transformation programs
- Strong operational background -- you have worked in warehouses, not just managed projects from the outside
- Experience integrating teams, processes and systems across multiple sites or business units
- Hands-on exposure to WMS platforms and systems transitions within live warehouse environments
- Ability to manage executive stakeholders and governance requirements with confidence
- A delivery-focused approach with strong attention to risk, timeline and customer continuity
- Experience in 3PL environments highly regarded
- Ability to start quickly and commit through to August 2026
- Contract engagement through to August 2026 with potential for BAU handover extension
- Blended day rate of $1,150 - $1,250 + GST / + super (depending on Pty Ltd or PAYG setup)
- Melbourne south-east based (Rowville)
