This is a permanent opportunity, based on the Sunshine Coast, working with an organisation recognised for delivering complex steel, concrete and timber construction projects across Australia and internationally.
About the Role
This role would suit someone with strong structural steel industry experience who is ready to step into a broader coordination and leadership position.
While the environment is technical, this is not a pure drafting or modelling role. Instead, you will act as the key point of contact between clients and internal delivery teams, coordinating information, managing priorities, and ensuring projects are delivered smoothly and efficiently.
You’ll be supported by established systems and an experienced delivery team, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to move into project leadership from a steel detailing, fabrication or estimating background.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients across multiple structural steel projects
- Coordinating project scope, timelines and delivery priorities
- Taking project briefings and translating client requirements to internal detailing and modelling teams
- Leading and supporting a small team (up to 5 people) working across active projects
- Managing RFIs, design changes, variations and technical queries
- Troubleshooting issues and supporting practical problem‑solving
- Monitoring project progress and ensuring quality standards are maintained
- Building strong, professional relationships with clients and stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
This position is well‑suited to candidates from the construction or structural steel industry who understand steel terminology, drawings and fabrication workflows, and who enjoy working with both clients and technical teams.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
- Structural steel project coordination or management
- Steel fabrication or manufacturing
- Boilermaker, estimator or senior steel detailer
- Structural steel engineer or drafter with strong drawing interpretation experience
Key experience:
- Good understanding of structural steel terminology and design drawings
- Experience working with detailing, engineering or fabrication teams
- Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions‑focused approach
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple stakeholders
Systems experience (preferred, not essential):
- Tekla
- StruCAD
- ProSteel
Location & Lifestyle
This role is based on the Sunshine Coast, offering the opportunity to combine interesting, technically varied work with an outstanding lifestyle.
Candidates currently based in Brisbane or elsewhere in South East Queensland, who are open to commuting/relocating, are strongly encouraged to apply.
