About the Team
The Agency’s Risk and Assurance function plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme. The team works collaboratively with business areas across the organisation to strengthen risk capability, support informed decision-making, and ensure effective management of operational and strategic risks.
The team operates in a dynamic and collaborative environment, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, including senior executives, to drive continuous improvement and strong risk practices across the Agency.
 
About the Role
The APS6 Risk Advisor is accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work guided by legislation, policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks. The role requires sound judgement and initiative to interpret policy and apply risk practices to achieve business outcomes.
The position provides detailed technical, professional, and operational risk advice, and contributes to strategic planning, program delivery, and policy development across the Agency.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist risk advisory services across business areas and strategic initiatives
  • Support risk identification, assessment, and development of mitigation strategies
  • Facilitate risk discussions and workshops with stakeholders and risk owners
  • Apply and promote the Agency’s Risk Management Framework
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including senior executives
  • Contribute to risk reporting, including drafting documentation and analysing data
  • Support risk maturity initiatives, including training and awareness activities
  • Assist in maintaining risk systems (e.g. IRMS) for risks, incidents, and issues
  • Contribute to governance, planning, and policy development activities
 
Must Have (Key Requirements)
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, including risk identification, assessment, and reporting
  • Proven ability to apply risk management frameworks, methodologies, and principles
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to analyse information and provide clear, practical advice
  • Experience working within government or regulated environments(desirable)
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Benefits:

  • Assignment end date: 31st December 2026 with potential extension
  • Location:  Geelong - Melbourne VIC or Robina, QLD
  • $60.26 hourly + Super
