About the Team

You will join a fast-paced Communications, Governance and Reform function that supports senior leaders within a complex, service-focused organisation. The team plays a key role in enabling strong decision-making by ensuring governance processes are well coordinated, communications are clear and consistent, and executive leaders are supported with timely and accurate information. The environment is collaborative, high-volume, and outcomes-driven, with regular engagement across senior stakeholders and multiple business areas.

About the Role

The agency is seeking a Senior Project Officer (Governance) to provide high-level governance, coordination, and executive support to senior regional leadership. This role sits at the center of decision-making activity, ensuring that governance forums, reporting processes, and communications are delivered to a high standard.
The successful candidate will be responsible for turning complex and sometimes sensitive information into clear, structured, and actionable advice that supports executive decision-making. This is a role for someone who is highly organised, confident working with senior stakeholders, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving and changing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level governance and coordination support to senior leaders, ensuring priorities and deliverables are effectively managed
  • Lead the preparation, review, and quality assurance of executive briefings, reports, correspondence, and governance documents
  • Translate complex or sensitive information into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate communications
  • Support executive decision-making by producing timely, accurate, and well-researched advice
  • Coordinate governance forums, including agenda preparation, paper management, and secretariat support
  • Record and track meeting outcomes, actions, and decisions through to completion
  • Monitor project and governance deliverables, including risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, to support effective coordination and communication
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and governance frameworks
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in governance, communication, and information management practices

You Must Have
 
  • Experience providing governance, executive support, or secretariat services in a government or large complex organisation
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in preparing briefings, reports, and executive-level correspondence
  • Ability to interpret and translate complex information into clear, structured messaging for different audiences
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating senior meetings, including agendas, papers, minutes, and action tracking
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including confidence working with senior executives
  • High level of organisation and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgement and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information
  • Experience using digital tools such as SharePoint or similar platforms for document and content management
  • Understanding of governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and record-keeping standards

  • $60.26 hourly + Super
