In this role, you’ll provide high‑level environmental guidance across design, approvals, and delivery phases, ensuring statutory compliance and sustainable project outcomes. This long‑term contract offers the rare opportunity to shape a major infrastructure project from an environmental perspective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑level advice on State and Commonwealth environmental legislation, including the EPBC Act 1999.
  • Support the delivery of environmental approvals, referrals, and offsets for major infrastructure works.
  • Review project designs, environmental surveys, spatial data, PERs, and develop Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
  • Identify environmental risks and negotiate practical design or scope modifications with project teams.
  • Coordinate environmental offset acquisition and project land requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the project in working groups, steering committees, and stakeholder forums.

What We’re Looking For
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental approvals, compliance, or assessments on major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to provide clear, high‑level written and verbal advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary project teams in government or consulting environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including liaison with agencies, councils, and industry.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

Why This Role?
  • Long‑term PO4 contract through to May 2028, with potential for extension.
  • Competitive rate of $78.63 – $84.56 per hour + super.
  • Standard 37.5‑hour work week offering excellent work‑life balance.
  • Opportunity to influence environmental outcomes on a high‑profile transport project.
  • Stable government environment with collaborative, experienced delivery teams.
