This is a standalone specialist role created to strengthen quality governance, assurance and compliance across multiple construction projects and contract packages. Historically, quality responsibilities have been engineering led; this role provides dedicated quality leadership to improve consistency, compliance and delivery confidence across the portfolio.
You will work across projects, contractors, engineering teams and governance forums to ensure quality management systems are embedded early, applied consistently and aligned to recognised industry standards, including ISO 9001.
This role will suit someone who is comfortable operating autonomously, can challenge constructively, and understands the realities of quality management in live construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and embedding of a Construction Quality Management Framework across the portfolio
- Provide portfolio level oversight of quality risks, issues, trends, and performance
- Verify and validate contractor compliance with ISO 9001 and project specific Quality Management Plans
- Review, assess and validate contractor quality systems, plans, ITPs and supporting evidence
- Conduct project level quality reviews and site assessments to confirm compliance with contractual, regulatory and internal requirements
- Support engineering quality governance, including document control and engineering change management
- Provide quality oversight across multi contract and complex construction projects, managing interface quality risks
- Support lifecycle governance gates by assessing readiness, validating documentation, and tracking close out actions
- Monitor quality performance and identify systemic issues and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Capture lessons learned and embed continuous improvement initiatives across the construction portfolio
- Provide practical quality guidance and coaching to project teams, contractors, and engineering stakeholders
- Support early phase project activities by embedding quality requirements into procurement, contracting, and design planning
- Contribute to portfolio reporting and dashboards tracking quality performance and contractor compliance
About You
Essential skills:
• Extensive experience in quality management within construction environments
• Electricity or energy sector experience
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, quality assurance, and governance frameworks
• Experience working across engineering and construction interfaces
• Proven ability to operate effectively in multi contract, major project environments
• Confident engaging with senior stakeholders, contractors, and engineering teams
• Able to work autonomously as a senior specialist and provide constructive challenge
Desirable:
• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification
• Experience establishing or uplifting quality frameworks in complex organisations
• Background in major infrastructure programs or brownfield environments
• Experience supporting commissioning, handover, and operational readiness
• Exposure to multiple Australian regulatory environments
Location & Flexibility
This role is open to candidates based in Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia or Victoria as the incumbent will be required to travel to the construction sites as required and can work from the local AGL offices. Interstate candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
