A leading Queensland Government department delivering one of Queensland’s most significant transport infrastructure programs is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Officer to join the Gateway to Bruce Upgrade (G2BU) project team, based on site in Deagon, QLD.
This role provides dedicated environmental support across a complex, multi‑billion‑dollar motorway and highway upgrade program, with a strong focus on approvals, compliance, and risk management through construction delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist environmental advice across State and Commonwealth legislation, including the EPBC Act 1999.
- Support and coordinate EPBC processes, including referrals, self‑assessments, PERs, and supporting technical documentation.
- Review environmental permits, licences, approvals, and Environmental Management Plans (planning and construction).
- Undertake site inspections and audits to verify compliance with environmental approvals and project requirements.
- Identify and manage environmental risks, developing practical, solution‑focused responses with project team s.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in environmental approvals, compliance, or advisory roles on major infrastructure or road projects.
- Strong knowledge of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and regulatory pathways.
- Proven ability to manage multiple environmental workstreams in a construction delivery environment.
- Experience reviewing design packages, EMPs, and specialist environmental reports.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
