About the Role
In this position, you will oversee and guide the design development of mechanical systems delivered by external parties. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring designs meet technical, operational, and regulatory requirements while aligning with project objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the Client’s representative for mechanical design activities
- Monitoring and reviewing design development to ensure quality and compliance
- Identifying technical risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and project teams
- Reviewing technical documentation and responding to engineering queries
- Supporting the coordination, tracking, and delivery of design packages
About You
You are a highly capable mechanical engineer with a strong background in industrial or mining projects and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in mining and/or industrial project delivery
Technical Skills & Expertise
- Proven experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of mechanical and materials handling systems
- Strong capability in analysing conveyor systems and assessing performance
- Experience with balanced machines such as stackers and grab unloaders
- Background working within an owner’s team or as an owner’s engineer (highly regarded)
- Skilled in preparing specifications and technical reports
- Solid understanding of relevant statutory requirements and national standards
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Chartered Engineer status (or eligibility)
- Knowledge of port operations and mechanical infrastructure
- Experience working with mechanical systems in hazardous areas
