We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to act as the Client’s representative for the design of mechanical assets on a major redevelopment project at the Kwinana Bulk Terminal. This is a key role supporting the successful delivery of complex industrial infrastructure, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and external designers.

About the Role
In this position, you will oversee and guide the design development of mechanical systems delivered by external parties. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring designs meet technical, operational, and regulatory requirements while aligning with project objectives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the Client’s representative for mechanical design activities
  • Monitoring and reviewing design development to ensure quality and compliance
  • Identifying technical risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and project teams
  • Reviewing technical documentation and responding to engineering queries
  • Supporting the coordination, tracking, and delivery of design packages

About You

You are a highly capable mechanical engineer with a strong background in industrial or mining projects and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in mining and/or industrial project delivery

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Proven experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of mechanical and materials handling systems
  • Strong capability in analysing conveyor systems and assessing performance
  • Experience with balanced machines such as stackers and grab unloaders
  • Background working within an owner’s team or as an owner’s engineer (highly regarded)
  • Skilled in preparing specifications and technical reports
  • Solid understanding of relevant statutory requirements and national standards
Professional Skills
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
Desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status (or eligibility)
  • Knowledge of port operations and mechanical infrastructure
  • Experience working with mechanical systems in hazardous areas
