This is a critical senior leadership opportunity suited to a highly experienced, RPEQ-qualified water professional with proven capability across municipal water and sewerage service delivery.
Based in Biloela, this role offers a strong regional package including subsidised housing, private use vehicle and relocation assistance.
The Opportunity:
Reporting at a senior level, this role is accountable for the strategic direction, operational performance and regulatory compliance of water supply and sewerage services.
You will provide RPEQ-level engineering oversight, lead capital and operational programs, and mentor a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable services.
This position will play a key role in driving operational uplift, service optimisation and long-term asset sustainability, working closely with executive leadership, regulators and industry stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary water services team
- Oversee water and sewerage operations, compliance and performance
- Deliver capital works and asset management programs
- Provide high-level engineering governance and RPEQ oversight
- Manage contracts, budgets and service delivery outcomes
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Engage with regulators, stakeholders and the community
About You:
You are a senior water professional and established leader with strong technical expertise and a track record of delivering results in a regulated environment.
You bring:
- Proven leadership in municipal water and sewerage services
- Strong technical capability across treatment, networks and compliance
- Experience leading teams through change and operational improvement
- Confident stakeholder engagement and sound commercial judgement
Mandatory Requirements (Non-Negotiable):
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil/Environmental or similar)
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering (roadworks/drainage)
- Demonstrated senior leadership experience in water/sewer operations
- Contract management experience
- QLD C Class Driver Licence
- Construction White/Blue Card
On Offer:
- Base salary: $160,000 + super
- Subsidised housing provided
- Private use vehicle or motor vehicle allowance
- Relocation assistance up to $10,000
- 3-year contract (preferred)
- 12-month project-based option may be considered
