Location: Laverton North
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment at our Laverton site. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining, repairing and improving plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
About the Role Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing plant equipment in line with trade practices. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant equipment
- Diagnose faults and repair mechanical systems efficiently
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Conduct safety checks in line with maintenance schedules
- Support continuous improvement and equipment upgrades
- Participate in on-call roster for breakdown support
- Work closely with production, QA and maintenance teams
- Mechanical trade qualification (essential)
- Experience in manufacturing or food processing environments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
- Good communication skills and team focus
- Commitment to safety, quality and compliance
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and boilers
- Forklift, EWP or confined space tickets
