Compliance / Risk Specialist – Insurance Strategist

Contract Period:   ASAP start to 30 November 2026
Hourly Rate:$87.70 – $117.35 + superannuation
Location: Flexible / Hybrid (Victoria-based preferred)

About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Compliance / Risk Specialist – Insurance Strategist to lead and deliver a major organisational insurance strategy initiative within a complex public-sector environment.

This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with strong program delivery, stakeholder engagement, and governance experience, who thrives in roles requiring high-level advice to senior leaders and executive boards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic products supporting a whole‑of‑organisation insurance strategy, including high‑quality briefings and advice to senior executives and boards.
  • Provide thought leadership through environmental scanning, research and analysis to inform options and recommendations for decision‑makers.
  • Lead planning, implementation and reporting activities, advising senior leaders on progress, risks and interdependencies.
  • Establish and manage effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to collaborate, influence outcomes and resolve complex matters.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional activities to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and governance requirements.
  • Support team effectiveness by promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, prioritisation, workload management and wellbeing.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating inclusive, ethical and collaborative work practices.
  • Contribute to leadership initiatives, cultural development and continuous improvement within the function.
  • Champion cultural safety by fostering environments and systems free from discrimination where all people feel respected, valued and able to participate.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in program management or delivery of complex policy or strategic initiatives.
  • Proven experience managing complex, technical subject matter including project oversight, financial monitoring, analysis, reporting and governance.
  • Experience working in public sector or similarly complex environments is highly regarded.
