We are partnering with a global property services organisation to appoint an experienced HR Manager to support its Australian operations. This is a standalone, hands‑on role based in Sydney CBD, reporting directly to an overseas HR leader and acting as the primary People and Culture representative for the local business.
This role will suit an HR professional who is comfortable operating autonomously, has strong Australian employment law knowledge, and is confident owning payroll governance through an external provider.
The Role
As the HR Manager, you will be the local HR authority for Australia, supporting a professional workforce of approximately 30–40 employees. You will work closely with senior stakeholders locally and offshore, ensuring compliance, consistency, and strong people practices across the business.
This is a true end‑to‑end HR role covering governance, people operations, payroll oversight, and employee lifecycle management.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR contact for the Australian business, providing trusted advice to leaders and employees
- Own and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook in line with Australian employment legislation
- Monitor legislative changes and independently implement policy and process updates
- Oversee payroll governance through an outsourced provider, including checks, reconciliations, and reporting
- Ensure accuracy of employee records, leave balances, and payroll inputs
- Manage all employee lifecycle activities including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboarding
- Handle ER matters end‑to‑end including performance issues, disciplinary processes, grievances, and terminations
- Support managers with workforce planning, role design, and people decisions
- Collaborate with and supervise an experienced Office Administrator on local office administration matters
- Partner closely with the overseas HR team to ensure global alignment while retaining local compliance
About You
- Proven experience as a standalone HR Manager, HR Lead, or Senior HR Business Partner
- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work, NES, and modern awards
- Hands‑on experience managing payroll governance, ideally through an external payroll provider
- Confidence reviewing payroll outputs, validating data, and working closely with Finance
- Demonstrated experience updating HR policies, processes, and employee handbooks
- Ability to operate independently as the local HR anchor while reporting offshore
- A practical, solutions‑focused approach with strong stakeholder management skills
- A stable career history demonstrating ownership and accountability
- Experience within property, real estate, or operational services environments will be advantageous, but is not essential.
What’s On Offer
- Standalone HR leadership role with genuine autonomy
- Exposure to a global organisation with senior overseas stakeholders
- Hybrid working model with 1 day work from home
- Competitive salary and long‑term opportunity
- Supportive and professional office environment in Sydney CBD
