This is a hands-on role working closely with site leadership and operational teams to drive a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement across all HSE functions.
This position is Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work and flexibility required for early starts (e.g. safety drills, audits, or operational needs).
About the role
Reporting to the Site Operations Manager, you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining compliance across WHS and environmental systems, while partnering with stakeholders across production, maintenance, quality and leadership teams.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting and maintaining Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) systems and compliance across site
- Driving a proactive safety culture through coaching, guidance and engagement with leaders and staff
- Coordinating safety meetings, audits, inspections and risk assessments
- Monitoring and analysing WHS data, identifying trends and recommending improvements
- Managing contractor safety compliance and site inductions
- Supporting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Maintain and improve the Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and reporting requirements
- Liaise with regulatory bodies where required (e.g. EPA, local authorities)
- Support audits and ensure timely close-out of findings
- Food safety and quality system compliance (including HACCP and GMP)
- Internal and external audit processes
- Continuous improvement initiatives across safety, environment and compliance
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Previous experience in a similar HSE/WHS role, ideally within the food manufacturing or processing industry
- Formal WHS qualification (Certificate IV or higher preferred)
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and environmental compliance requirements
- Experience with ISO 45001 and/or environmental management systems
- Proven experience in incident investigation and risk management
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills
