Role Overview
The Head of Care is a senior leadership position responsible for the clinical governance, quality, and strategic oversight of Omnicare’s care services across aged care and disability supports. This role ensures high-quality, safe, and compliant service delivery while providing strong leadership to care teams and fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Care plays a key role in service development, workforce capability, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Provide senior leadership and direction across all care services
- Contribute to organisational strategy, service growth, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure services align with Omnicare’s mission, values, and quality objectives
- Lead change management and service enhancement projects
- Maintain effective clinical and care governance frameworks
- Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards, NDIS Practice Standards, and other regulatory requirements
- Oversee incident management, complaints handling, and continuous quality improvement activities
- Monitor and manage clinical risk, safeguarding, and duty of care obligations
- Lead, mentor, and support care managers, coordinators, and clinical staff
- Oversee workforce capability, performance management and professional development
- Promote a positive, accountable, and values-driven workplace culture
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of care staff
- Ensure services are person-centred, culturally safe, and responsive to client needs
- Oversee care planning, reviews, and outcomes monitoring
- Support effective engagement with clients, families, advocates and external stakeholders
- Ensure service delivery meets funding provided, monitoring any signs of budget overspends
- Act as a key point of contact for regulators, auditors, and funding bodies
- Build strong relationships with health professionals, community partners, and external providers
- Support accreditation, audits, and regulatory reporting requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Nursing, Allied Health, or Community Services
- Extensive leadership experience in aged care, disability, or community services
- Demonstrated knowledge of Aged Care and/or NDIS legislation, standards, and funding models
- Strong clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement experience
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex service environments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Current AHPRA registration (if nursing background)
- Experience leading services across both Aged Care and NDIS streams
- Postgraduate qualification in leadership, management, or health services
- Experience supporting service growth and operational scaling
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence
- National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
