We are currently seeking an experienced Governance Business Partner to join a progressive organisation supporting the Northern Rivers region. Reporting to the Governance and Risk Manager, this position plays a key role in driving best-practice governance, ensuring compliance, and supporting effective and ethical decision-making across operations.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity suited to a governance professional with strong legislative knowledge and the ability to operate both strategically and operationally across diverse areas.
Duties
- Provide expert governance advice across legislative interpretation, legal coordination, and public sector operations
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and governance-related documentation
- Oversee and maintain governance frameworks including policies, procedures, and delegations
- Act as the business owner for governance systems and legislative compliance processes
- Coordinate GIPA and privacy requests, subpoenas, and public register requirements
- Deliver training, education, and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor qualification in Law or a related discipline, with 4–6 years’ relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of Local Government legislation including GIPA, PPIPA, and related Acts
- Demonstrated experience advising on land and property governance matters (leases, easements, Crown land, etc.)
- Current Class C Driver Licence
