Position Type: Full-time, 6 month assignments, possibility to extend
Two exciting opportunities are available for experienced financial accounting professionals to join our client’s team in critical leadership and delivery roles. These positions will be appointed at Level 6 or Level 7, depending on the successful applicant’s skills, experience and capability, and will play a key role in statutory reporting, audit coordination and whole-of-government financial processes.
About the Role
Reporting to the relevant Manager, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality statutory and management reporting, support audit processes, and ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to internal and external stakeholders, including the Department of Treasury and other government agencies.
At Level 7, the role has a stronger leadership, coordination and advisory focus. At Level 6, the role focuses on detailed financial accounting, analysis and reporting support.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your level of appointment, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading or supporting statutory reporting processes, including the preparation of consolidated and annual financial statements and supporting notes, working papers and documentation.
- Coordinating or assisting with responses to internal and external audit queries and issues relating to the Branch’s functions and annual financial statements.
- Coordinating or contributing to the preparation and submission of whole-of-government entities reports to the Department of Treasury.
- Preparing or assisting with financial reports for the Department of Treasury, Department of Finance and Commonwealth agencies.
- Preparing annual estimates for the department and supporting budget and forecasts processes.
- Performing monthly and quarterly reconciliations and reviews of financial accounts.
- Assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of financial models, systems and data analysis processes.
- Managing and responding to Ministerial and other high-level inquiries, including initiating follow-up actions where required (Level 7).
- Supervising, mentoring and supporting team members (Level 7).
- Undertaking other duties as directed.
You will be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge and experience working in a complex organisation, ideally within the public sector.
You will demonstrate:
- Strong experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting and audit processes
- Sound analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership capability and experience mentoring staff (for Level 7 appointment)
