Reporting to the Engineering Designer Lead, this role plays a critical part in ensuring engineering data, drawings and documentation are accurate, accessible and governed in line with organisational and legislative requirements. The position supports a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and contributes to safe, compliant and efficient infrastructure outcomes.
About the Role
As the Engineering Data Management Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing technical data sets that support design, construction, operation, maintenance and disposal activities across Inner and Outer Harbour assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining engineering drawing, design model, calculation, report and document registers, including project files and historic microfilm records
- Registering, retrieving and controlling engineering documentation within the Content Manager (CM) system
- Supporting data governance and quality management through metadata management, data cataloguing and related tools (e.g. DQM)
- Searching, compiling and providing engineering drawings and technical documentation to support projects, operations, planning and maintenance
- Digitising and maintaining historic engineering drawing archives and providing research support
- Developing and improving processes for data management, revision control, data updates, 3D data sets and design model information
- Supporting business data release activities, including FOI requests, Planning Applications and Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) requests, under the guidance of relevant discipline engineers
You are a technically capable professional with a strong understanding of engineering documentation and information management. You are organised, process‑driven and comfortable working across complex technical environments.
You will bring:
- Experience in engineering data management, technical document control, asset data, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience managing drawings, models and engineering documentation within electronic document management systems
- Understanding of data governance, metadata, revision control and information lifecycle management
- Ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings and technical information
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Well‑developed communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project teams and external stakeholders
