We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller / Management Accountant to support capital projects and operational performance across our clients’ resources portfolio. This role partners closely with project, site and corporate stakeholders to deliver accurate cost control, budgeting, forecasting and financial insights that enable strong decision‑making.
This role is immmediately available with an opportunity for permanency for the right candidate down the track.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning across Capex and Opex.
- Track, monitor and reconcile project and site costs against budget, including cost‑to‑complete and cashflow forecasting.
- Provide timely monthly management accounts, variance analysis and insightful commentary on risks and opportunities.
- Partner with Project Managers, Site Supervisors and leadership to support project cost control, scheduling and financial decision‑making.
- Assess capital expenditure proposals, ROI and ensure compliant approval of CERs, PRs and POs.
- Maintain robust financial controls, ensure compliance with accounting standards and support internal and external audits.
- Manage tenement expenditure, fixed assets, and contractor cost performance.
- Provide ad‑hoc financial advice and support to site and Perth‑based teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in budgeting, reporting, systems and cost control processes.
- Actively promote safety and participate in health and safety initiatives.
- Lead, mentor and develop direct reports where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- CA / CPA (or equivalent) qualification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in management accounting, cost control or project accounting within the resources, mining or civil construction sector.
- Strong capability in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modelling and project cost reporting.
- Solid knowledge of IFRS / AASB and financial governance.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with Pronto; exposure to Aconex, Power BI, Oracle or JDE highly regarded.
- Proven ability to work with non‑financial stakeholders and communicate complex information clearly.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proactive, improvement‑focused mindset with a collaborative working style.
- Current WA C‑Class Driver’s Licence.
