Commercial Strategy Manager 📍 Honeysuckle, Newcastle | Hybrid (Sydney candidates considered – 2 days office)
A leading infrastructure organisation is seeking a Commercial Strategy Manager to support major capital works programs across water and essential services infrastructure.
This is a step-up role for commercially strong project professionals looking to move beyond contract administration into broader commercial strategy, risk and procurement design.
You’ll work across major programs of work, including multi-hundred-million-dollar infrastructure projects, helping shape how contracts are structured, managed and delivered.
What you’ll be doing This is a hands-on commercial role embedded in project delivery, where you will:
- Support the development of commercial and procurement strategies for major infrastructure projects
- Contribute to contract structuring, supplier models, KPIs and performance frameworks
- Assist with negotiations, variations, claims and commercial issue resolution
- Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure strong commercial outcomes
- Apply sound risk and governance principles across contract lifecycle management
- Monitor supplier performance and contribute to continuous improvement of commercial arrangements
You will typically come from a:
- Contracts Administrator
- Senior Contracts Administrator (early stage)
- Commercial Analyst (projects)
- Quantity Surveyor with contract exposure
- 2–5 years’ experience in commercial or contract roles within infrastructure or project environments
- Exposure to contract administration, variations, claims or subcontractor engagement
- Experience working in Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction / infrastructure environments strongly preferred
- Strong commercial awareness and willingness to grow into strategic responsibility
- Confidence working with project teams, engineers and commercial stakeholders
- Exposure to major infrastructure programs ($500M+ portfolio's)
- Genuine step-up from contract administration into commercial strategy
- Supportive, high-trust environment with strong cross-functional collaboration
- Flexible working arrangements (including hybrid options for Sydney-based candidates)
- Clear development pathway into more senior commercial roles
