Position Overview
An Australian Government agency is seeking experienced Clinicians to provide high‑quality mental health assessment and counselling services to eligible clients and their families.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment delivering evidence‑based, trauma‑informed care, with access to funded clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

The service delivers specialist mental health assessment, counselling, and wellbeing support to individuals with lived experience of service, as well as their immediate families. Care is delivered through a combination of proven clinical practices and emerging evidence‑based approaches.

Your Role
As an Clinician, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering client‑centred, evidence‑based mental health services. Reporting to an Assistant Director (EL1 equivalent), you will manage a clinical caseload and contribute to service delivery, clinical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality clinical services including:
- Risk assessment and intervention
- Case management
- Evidence‑based individual, couple, and family counselling
- Review counselling progress with clients and adapt therapeutic approaches as required
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records including care plans, risk assessments, and session notes
- Participate in funded clinical supervision and CPD to maintain professional registration
- Adhere to relevant legislation, ethical frameworks, and organisational policies
- Liaise with family members, external treatment providers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate care
- Attend regular case reviews, supervision, and team meetings
- Co‑facilitate group treatment and psychoeducation programs
- Participate in Duty Officer / on‑call rotations, providing crisis intervention and clinical triage
- Conduct intake assessments to support appropriate allocation to services
- Contribute to program evaluation, research, and quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in community engagement and service promotion activities
Key Skills and Capabilities
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- Strong trauma‑informed, holistic, and client‑centred clinical practice
- Ability to complete comprehensive intake assessments and risk formulations
- High‑level written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgement and ability to manage complex or critical presentations calmly
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Confidence using clinical systems, IT equipment, and software
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment
Applicants must:
- Hold or be able to obtain:
- A Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration or
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC)
Applicants must hold current eligibility in one of the following professional disciplines:
- Registered Psychologist (AHPRA)
- Mental Health Nurse (AHPRA)
- Occupational Therapist (AHPRA)
- Social Worker (AASW – Mental Health Accredited or eligible)
- Counsellor or Psychotherapist (ACA or PACFA – clinical registration)
