About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst Team Leader (APS6 equivalent) to lead a team of technical analysts delivering high-quality, forward‑looking operational reporting, projections and insights. This role plays a critical part in supporting executive decision‑making by translating complex data into clear, actionable intelligence.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing a team of technical analysts, setting clear expectations, managing performance and developing team capability
  • Planning, coordinating and driving the end‑to‑end delivery of forward‑looking operational reporting and projections
  • Overseeing the design, build, validation and quality assurance of projection and scenario‑based reporting products
  • Managing competing priorities, interdependencies and tight deadlines in a complex environment
  • Exercising sound judgement to make decisions on analytical approaches, assumptions, risks and trade‑offs
  • Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to align data inputs, methodologies and delivery timelines
  • Communicating complex analytical insights, risks and implications clearly to senior and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Providing technical leadership and setting standards for analytical rigour, data integrity and governance
  • Identifying, managing and escalating risks and data quality issues with appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Driving continuous improvement in reporting and projection processes, tools and products

Essential Criteria
  • Proven experience in a leadership or team lead role
  • Experience leading and managing teams of technical or data analysts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven data capability, including validation, assurance and interpretation
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience writing and troubleshooting in SAS and/or SQL
  • Ownership and delivery of regular reporting products
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, validating and assuring projection or scenario‑based reporting
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to adapt to change in a fast‑paced environment
 Desirable Criteria
  • Project management experience
  • Forecasting and/or modelling experience
  • Prior government or agency experience
  • Experience managing remote or geographically dispersed teams
 Skills & Capabilities
  • Strong people leadership and delivery leadership capability
  • High‑level judgement and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and engaging way
  • Proven stakeholder engagement, negotiation and collaboration skills
  • Resilience, adaptability and the ability to remain focused under pressure
