Works Technical Officer

Rate:$51.79–$56.17 per hour + super
Location:  Keilor Park
Hours: 38 per week
Contract: 23 March – 19 June 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm
Dress Code: Hi‑Viz vest, long sleeve shirt, long work pants & safety shoes

About the Role
An organisation in the western suburbs is seeking an experienced Works Technical Officer to support road, drainage and cleansing operations. This role is responsible for assisting with planning, monitoring and reporting on various maintenance programs to ensure services are delivered efficiently, safely and to required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, scheduling and monitoring of:
    • Road maintenance services (asphalt repairs, major works, unsealed roads, signage, linemarking, drainage repairs)
    • Drainage programs (pipe & pit inspections, litter basket and GPT cleaning, hotspot programs)
    • Cleansing services (street sweeping, litter collection, commercial cleansing)
  • Prepare monthly performance reporting including KPIs, productivity and plant utilisation.
  • Produce reports from internal systems including customer service requests and work order status.
  • Support contract management: specification drafting, tender documentation, evaluations and contractor supervision (quality & OHS checks).
  • Assist with budget preparation, financial monitoring and purchasing activities.
  • Develop audit programs and contribute to continuous improvement of operational practices.
  • Assist in developing Safe Work Procedures and operational documentation.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence and briefing materials as required.
  • Support implementation and use of mobile devices across the unit.
About You
You will be a self‑starter with strong organisational and technical skills, capable of working both independently and within a busy operations team.

Key Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in works/operations management.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring infrastructure maintenance services.
  • Strong contract management experience, including tendering and ongoing contract oversight.
  • Sound financial and budget management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office, customer service/asset management systems).
  • Knowledge of OHS and risk management requirements in an operational environment.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
Desirable
  • Experience working within a similar operational, civil or government environment.
