What You’ll Do:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on mechanical and electrical systems of heavy mining equipment, ensuring quick and effective repairs.
- Perform breakdown repairs and scheduled servicing of mobile machinery at both the mine site and workshop, adhering strictly to safety standards.
- Conduct thorough pre-start checks, SWICs, and inspections to guarantee equipment safety and reliability.
- Maintain critical documentation, record maintenance activities accurately, and ensure all tools and parts are kept safe, serviceable, and organized.
- Minimize equipment downtime by applying your expertise to optimize machinery performance and productivity.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Supervisor and Leading Hand to coordinate work in a safe, efficient manner.
- Assist in training team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages safety and skills development.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies, including wearing appropriate protective equipment and immediately reporting hazards or incidents.
- Demonstrated passion for safety and proactive safety practices.
- Extensive troubleshooting experience with electric/hydraulic underground drilling equipment.
- Competent in hydraulic circuits, and diesel engine maintenance.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong service and maintenance mindset with a focus on maximizing equipment uptime.
- Excellent organizational skills, including housekeeping and stock management.
- Ability to interpret service manuals and technical drawings accurately.
- Good communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Experience working with underground mobile mining equipment such as CAT, Sandvik, and Atlas Copco.
- More than 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience in a similar role.
- Australian Recognized Heavy-Duty Mechanic Trade Qualification.
- Current and valid Manual Australian Driver’s Licence (C-Class minimum).
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
- Willingness to work in a underground mining environment, which may include shift work and on-call responsibilities.
- Compliance with all site-specific safety and operational protocols.
