Underground Drill Rig Operator

About the Role Our client is seeking experienced Underground Long Hole or Jumbo Operators to join their underground mining operation. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of underground drill rigs to support development and production activities.

You will work as part of a high‑performing underground team, operating modern drill fleets while maintaining strong safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate long hole and/or jumbo drill rigs in an underground environment
  • Drill development headings, production rings, and ground support as required
  • Conduct pre‑start inspections and complete required documentation
  • Identify and report equipment defects and hazards
  • Maintain compliance with site safety procedures and statutory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors and other underground crews
About You
  • Demonstrated experience as an Underground Long Hole or Jumbo Operator
  • Experience operating modern underground drill rigs
  • Strong understanding of underground safety systems and procedures
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and follow operational plans
  • Reliable, safety‑focused, and production‑driven work ethic
Mandatory Requirements
  • Current underground qualifications / tickets relevant to drilling operations
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
Desirable
  • Experience across both long hole and jumbo operations
  • Experience in hard‑rock underground mining environments
  • Previous experience with computer‑guided or automated drill systems
