Technical Officer - Environmental Chemistry

Hourly Rate:$53.86 + super | Location: City campus | Contract: ASAP – 29 May 2026 | Hours: 36/week

We’re seeking a Technical Officer in Environmental Chemistry to join our STEM College. Reporting to the Technical Coordinator, you’ll provide technical support for laboratories and off-campus field sites, helping with equipment operation, sample collection, and training staff and students. This full-time, on-site role is needed due to increased workload.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain lab operations, equipment, and chemicals
• Support field sampling of soil, groundwater, and surface water
• Train staff and students on lab and field techniques
• Keep safety documentation and procedures up to date
• Prepare for practical classes and activities
• Ensure compliance with OHS and safety standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

About You

• Experience in Environmental Chemistry or Science, especially sampling and analysis of soil, groundwater, and surface water
• Hands-on with lab equipment like CN analysers, FTIR, ion chromatography, and water quality meters
• Knowledge of OHS legislation and safe lab/field practices
• Organised, proactive, and adaptable in a busy environment
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Team player with the ability to work independently
